January 27, 2024

Below you will find some of the challenges one may face at organizing a birthday party for your little one. You will also find tips and ways to overcome some of these challenges.

The Budget

  • The Problem
  1. Determining a budget for a birthday party involves considering various factors such as the number of guests, venue, theme, decorations, food, and entertainment.
  • The Solution
  1. Define your priorities with the birthday child in mind.
  2. Have a guest count.
  3. Think about your theme and how it will impact the cost.
  4. Determine whether you can cater or prepare food.
  5. Decide on the type of entertainment will best fit your child’s needs and preferences.
  6. Lastly, research prices and gather quotes.

Flexibility is key, and being mindful of your financial limits will help you plan a celebration that is enjoyable and within your means.

Choosing a Theme and Decorations

  • The Problem
  1. Choosing a theme and coordinating decorations can be time-consuming. Ensuring that the decorations align with the theme and create the desired atmosphere is crucial for a successful party.
  • The Solution
  1. Speak to your child. Chances are your child will let you know what theme they are interested in. Remember who the birthday celebration is for. Your child should be at the center of the decisions made for the big day.
  2. Balloon Garlands are a big trend and they can serve as a focal point in your event.
  3. Consider reaching out to your local balloon garland decorator for ideas and prices. If your budget is tight, consider a DIY kit. For DIY kits we recommend Arne’s Warehouse in Houston, TX, as they have a variety of options and quality items.

Essential Rentals

  • The Problem

Chances are many families have a small number of tables and chairs at their home. Most of the time you will need help from a Party Rentals company to help you facilitate this need.

  • The Solution
  1. Contact your local Party Rentals company to help you. At TX Backyard Entertainment we have a variety of party rentals that will help you make your event one to remember. From Tables, Chairs, Tents to Bounce Houses, Karaoke, Sno Cone Machines and more. Check our full Inventory.
  2. Tables and Chairs
  • When considering how many tables and chairs to rent use the 80/20 Rule of Thumb.
  • On average parties have an attendance of 80% of the full invitation list. In other words if you invite 50 guests, 40 will show up and 10 may not. This is not always the case so make sure to check your RSVP confirmed list prior to your event.

    • The Problem
    1. Kids tend to have a short attention span. They are so full of energy you need to find ways to channel it in safe and fun ways.
    • The Solution
    1. Come up with a list of games. Games such as Connect Four, Giant Jenga, Corn Hole to Active Games such Musical Chairs, Sack Races to name a few. You can even go a step further and provide prizes as they participate.
    2. One of our favorite Entertainment options are Bounce Houses. Bounce Houses are excellent for kids’ birthday parties. They can fit multiple kids at a time while providing a great social environment for kids to laugh and play together. Not to mention they offer a great form of exercise, 10 minutes of jumping equals to 20 - 30 minutes of running!
    3. Piñatas are also one of our favorite birthday party entertainment options. They are a symbol of joy, celebration, and togetherness. They bring kids and adults together.

    Food and Dessert Choices

Planning the menu and coordinating catering services requires attention to detail. Consider dietary restrictions and preferences of your the birthday child and guests while ensuring that the food fits the overall theme of the party.

    How to RSVP

RSVP can easily be done is through digital invitations. Not only are they climate friendly but also low on costs and potentially FREE. Canva is an excellent source for digital invitations.

Include the following on your Digital Invitations for maximum success.
